Privacy Policy.
What we collect when you book a ride, why we collect it, where it goes, and what you can ask us to do about it. Written for Alberta, in plain language.
Katch A Limo is an Edmonton company, and this policy is written to meet Alberta’s Personal Information Protection Act. It applies to katchalimo.com and to every booking we take by phone, text, email or message.
01Who We Are
Katch A Limo is a family-owned limousine and chauffeur service based in Edmonton, Alberta. In this policy, “we”, “us” and “our” mean Katch A Limo. “You” means anyone who visits katchalimo.com, requests a quote, or books a ride with us.

02The Law That Applies
We are an Alberta business, so the personal information we handle is governed by Alberta’s Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA). Where a booking crosses a provincial or national border, Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) may also apply. Any commercial email or text message we send is governed by Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL).
PIPA rests on a simple idea, and so does this policy: we collect only what a reasonable person would consider appropriate for the purpose, we tell you what that purpose is, and we do not use your information for anything else without asking you first.
03What We Collect
Information you give us. When you fill in the reservation form on this site, call, text, email or message us, we collect:
- ›Your full name or company name
- ›Your email address and phone number
- ›The occasion, the date of service and the pickup time
- ›The trip type (one way, round trip or hourly) and the vehicle you want
- ›Your pickup address, your drop-off address and the service zone
- ›Any additional message or special request you choose to send us
Information collected automatically. Like most websites, katchalimo.com records limited technical information when you visit: your IP address, browser and device type, the pages you view, how you arrived at the site, and how long you stay. This is collected through cookies and similar technologies, described in section 07.
What we do not collect. This website does not process payments and does not ask for credit card numbers, banking details or government identification. Payment is arranged separately with us by e-transfer, card or cash. We also do not knowingly collect information about your health, ethnicity, religion or political views.
04Why We Collect It
We use your personal information for these purposes and no others:
- ›To answer your question and prepare a quote
- ›To confirm, schedule and carry out your booking, including dispatching a chauffeur to the right address at the right time
- ›To contact you about your ride — a confirmation, a change of plan, a delay, or a lost item
- ›To take payment and keep the business records that Alberta and Canadian tax law require us to keep
- ›To understand how the website is used, so we can improve it
- ›To measure whether our advertising is working
- ›To meet a legal, regulatory or insurance obligation
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not rent or trade our client list.
05Consent, and How to Withdraw It
When you submit the reservation form or contact us, you are consenting to our collecting and using the information you provided for the purposes listed above. That consent is what lets us do the work you asked for.
You can withdraw your consent at any time by calling (780) 722-3070 or writing to katchalimo@gmail.com. We will tell you plainly what withdrawing means in your case — if you withdraw before a booked ride, for example, we will no longer be able to provide it. Some information must be retained after you withdraw consent, because tax and insurance law requires it.
If we ever want to use your information for a new purpose that is not listed here, we will ask you first.
06When You Submit the Reservation Form
This one deserves its own section, because of where your information goes.
When you press Submit Reservation, two things happen. First, the details you entered are saved to our own reservation records on this website, so that your request is never lost. Second, your browser is redirected to WhatsApp with those same details pre-written into a message addressed to our dispatch number. You choose whether to press send.
WhatsApp is operated by Meta Platforms. If you send that message, its content passes through and is stored on Meta’s systems, which are located outside Canada, and is handled under Meta’s own privacy policy rather than ours. If you would prefer not to use WhatsApp, simply close the WhatsApp window — your request has already reached us — or contact us instead by phone or email.
We may also send a copy of your request to our own business email inbox as a backup.
07Cookies, Analytics and Advertising
Cookies are small files a website stores in your browser. Some are needed for the site to work at all. Others help us understand how the site is used. We use:
- ›Google Tag Manager — the tool that loads the measurement tags below.
- ›Google Analytics 4 — tells us, in aggregate, which pages are visited, from which region, and on what kind of device. We use it to improve the site, not to identify you personally.
- ›Google Ads conversion tracking — tells us when someone who clicked one of our ads later submitted the form or tapped our phone number, so we know which advertising is worth paying for.
- ›Essential and hosting cookies — set by WordPress and by our hosting and content-delivery providers to keep the site secure and fast.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and you can opt out of Google Analytics entirely using Google’s browser add-on. Blocking cookies will not stop you from booking a ride. Some browsers also send a Do Not Track signal; there is no agreed industry standard for responding to it, so we do not currently act on it.
08Who We Share It With
We share personal information only where it is necessary, and only with these categories of recipient:
- ›Our chauffeurs and dispatch staff — they receive the details needed to complete your ride and nothing more.
- ›Our website host and content delivery provider — they store and serve the site, which includes the reservation records held on it.
- ›WhatsApp / Meta Platforms — only if you choose to send the pre-written message described in section 06.
- ›Google — for the analytics and advertising measurement described in section 07.
- ›Professional advisors — our accountant or insurer, where a booking or a claim requires it.
- ›Law enforcement or a court — where we are legally required to disclose, or where disclosure is needed to protect someone’s safety.
Where a service provider handles information on our behalf, we require that it be used only for the service we engaged them for.
09Information Stored or Accessed Outside Canada
Some of the providers described above store or process information on servers located outside Alberta and outside Canada, most often in the United States. When information is held in another country, it is subject to the laws of that country, and it may be accessible to the courts and law-enforcement authorities there.
Alberta’s PIPA requires us to tell you this, and to give you someone to ask about it. If you have questions about our use of service providers outside Canada, contact our Privacy Officer using the details in section 15.
10How Long We Keep It
We keep personal information only as long as it serves the purpose it was collected for, or as long as the law requires — whichever is longer.
- ›Quote requests that do not become bookings — kept for up to two years, so we can recognise you if you come back to us.
- ›Completed bookings — kept for at least six years, the period Canadian tax law requires for business records.
- ›Website analytics — retained for the period set in our Google Analytics account, and held in aggregate rather than by name.
When information is no longer needed, we delete it or render it anonymous.
11How We Protect It
We use security measures appropriate to how sensitive the information is: the site runs over an encrypted HTTPS connection, our reservation records sit behind password-protected administrator accounts, access is limited to the people who need it to do their job, and our website software is kept up to date.
No system connected to the internet can be guaranteed perfectly secure, and we will not pretend otherwise. What we can promise is that we take the obligation seriously and act quickly when something is wrong.
12Your Right to See and Correct Your Information
Under PIPA you may ask us:
- ›What personal information we hold about you
- ›How we have used it, and who we have disclosed it to
- ›To correct anything that is wrong or incomplete
Write to our Privacy Officer at katchalimo@gmail.com or call (780) 722-3070. We will respond within 45 days, as PIPA requires, or tell you if we need an extension and why. There is no charge for a straightforward request; if a request is unusually large we may charge a reasonable fee, and we will give you an estimate before doing any work.
We may need to verify your identity before releasing information, and in a few narrow cases the law requires us to withhold it — for example where releasing it would reveal personal information about someone else. If we refuse, we will tell you why and how to challenge that decision.
13If Something Goes Wrong
If personal information in our control is lost, accessed without authorisation, or disclosed by accident, we will assess the risk. Where a reasonable person would consider that there is a real risk of significant harm to anyone affected, PIPA requires us to report the incident to the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Alberta without unreasonable delay, and to notify the individuals concerned. We keep an internal record of every incident, whether or not it reaches that threshold.
14If You Are Not Satisfied
Tell us first — most concerns are resolved with a phone call. If we cannot resolve it together, you have the right to complain to the independent regulator:

16Other Things Worth Knowing
Young people. Our service is booked by adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18 without the consent of a parent or guardian. Graduation and prom bookings are made by a parent, a school or another responsible adult. If you believe a minor has given us information directly, contact us and we will remove it.
Marketing messages. If we send you a promotional email or text, it will identify us, and it will contain a working unsubscribe link or instruction, as CASL requires. Booking confirmations and messages about a ride you have arranged are not marketing and will continue regardless.
Links to other sites. This site links to other websites — a venue, a partner, a social media page. Once you leave katchalimo.com, this policy no longer applies, and we are not responsible for how those sites handle your information.
Changes to this policy. We may update this page as our practices, our tools or the law change. The effective date at the top always tells you which version you are reading. Where a change is significant, we will say so on the site.
This policy explains our practices in plain language. It is not legal advice, and it does not replace the text of the Personal Information Protection Act itself.
