Rogers Place sits at 10220 104 Avenue NW, in the middle of Ice District, and on a game night the blocks around it turn into the busiest square kilometre in Edmonton. Parking fills, streets close, and the walk back to the car in January is nobody’s favourite part of the evening. Here is how to arrive by limousine instead: where the drop-off is, how to time it, what it costs and how to get the group home afterward.
Why people take a limo to Rogers Place
The parking. Ask anyone who has driven downtown for a 7 PM puck drop. Lots near the arena fill an hour before the game, rates climb on event nights, and leaving afterward means sitting in a lineup while 18,000 people try to exit the same few streets. A limo removes all of it. You are dropped at the door, you are picked up at the door, and the only thing you carry back is the win.
There is also the obvious part: a game or a concert is an occasion. Arriving together, in a proper vehicle, with the music already on, is a better start than circling for a spot.
Where limousines drop off and pick up
Rogers Place has a dedicated limousine drop-off and pick-up area on the north side of the arena. Access to it is reserved in advance through the venue, so it is not a spot you can improvise on the night. When you book with us, we handle the coordination and your chauffeur knows exactly where to go.
A few practical notes:
- Streets around the arena, especially 104 Avenue, are managed or closed on event nights. Your chauffeur plans around that.
- Post-event pickup takes a few minutes to reach the zone because of pedestrian volume. We tell you where to wait so you are not standing in the crowd.
- If you are also going for dinner before, Ice District and the surrounding blocks have plenty of options and the limo simply moves you from one to the other.
Timing an Oilers game
For a 7 PM game, plan a pickup that gets you to the arena between 6:00 and 6:15. That leaves time for the walk in, security and a drink before the anthem. Traffic into downtown builds from about 5 PM on game nights, so pickups in the suburbs should allow a comfortable margin.
Games run roughly two and a half hours. We usually book a pickup 15 to 20 minutes after the final buzzer, or we stay on standby if you want to linger. Playoff games and games against Calgary run longer and louder; add a buffer.
Timing a concert
Concerts are less predictable than hockey. Doors typically open 60 to 90 minutes before the listed start, opening acts vary, and headliners can finish anywhere from 10:30 to past midnight. The simplest approach is an hourly booking with the chauffeur on standby, so the end time does not matter. Tell us the artist and we will check the expected schedule.
Which vehicle for which group
- Two to six people: the executive SUV. Quiet, comfortable, and the easiest to move through downtown traffic.
- Six to eleven people: a stretch limousine. The Lincoln MKT is the one most groups pick for a game night.
- Twelve to twenty people: the party bus for a celebration, or the shuttle bus if it is a corporate group or a family outing and you just need everyone moved comfortably.
Our Oilers and sports events service page covers the packages in more detail.
What it costs
A typical game-night booking is four to five hours: pickup, the game, and home. An executive SUV is the most affordable option; a stretch limo or party bus costs more per hour. Split among a group, it is often cheaper than everyone parking and paying for separate rides home. Our pricing guide has the full breakdown.
One thing to know: Oilers home games, and especially playoff dates, are among the busiest nights of the year for every limo company in Edmonton. Book as soon as you have tickets.
Making a night of it
The arena is the middle of the evening, not the whole thing. Common plans we drive:
- Dinner first. A pickup at 5, a reservation in Ice District or on 104 Street, then the walk or a short hop to the arena.
- The win celebration. After the game, a stop at a bar downtown or on Whyte Avenue before heading home.
- The out-of-town group. Guests from St. Albert, Sherwood Park, Leduc or further, picked up at one point and dropped back at the end. Zone surcharges apply outside the Anthony Henday and we confirm them up front.
- The corporate box. Clients collected from their hotel, taken to the game and returned. See our corporate service.
A few rules for the ride
Alcohol is allowed in the vehicle for passengers 18 and over under Alberta law, as long as everyone on board is of age. No smoking or vaping. Stay seated while the vehicle is moving. Bring your tickets on your phone; there is no paper box office line to worry about with mobile ticketing. And tell us the plan in advance so the chauffeur can time the drop-off and know where to wait afterward.
